The Anti-Racism and Action Faculty Working Group presents:

Decolonizing Pedagogy and Praxis

In this virtual workshop, participants will learn the importance and impact of creating a decolonized and equity-focused course syllabus. They will also learn to incorporate and promote equity, diversity, inclusion, and antiracism in their courses—to support all students holistically.

Bios:

Luis Guerrero (he/him/él) is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Palomar College. Coordinator of the Math Across the Curriculum Holistically (MATCH) initiative, and the HWY 78 Math Fields Day regional college/HS math competition, a curriculum committee member, and new Professional Development coordinator. Has co-led multiple decolonizing syllabus workshops and will co-lead new grading for equity book club at our campus.

Hossna Sadat Ahadi (she/her/ella) is an Assistant Professor in Counseling at Palomar College. She is the founder of Asian Pacific Alliance in Higher Education and Empowered Women affinity groups at her campus. Dr. Sadat Ahadi is a national and statewide award winner for her work and leadership involving equity, diversity, inclusion, and antiracism in education. She continues to research, publish, and provide ongoing trainings related to antiracism, decolonization, and racial equity in education.

The Anti-Racism and Action Faculty Working Group developed from drop-in sessions, sponsored by the four CAHSS Research Centers, in summer-fall 2020. The group seeks to promote new coalitions, conversations, and creative work surrounding anti-racism.
