Description
Over 6.5 million US children from birth through age 8 are on track for reading failure. Reading is the foundation for educational success and opportunities in life, yet many children are not given the time and skills to build this foundation.
Our approach to this challenge is to provide schools with evidence-based literacy interventions and assessment tools, rigorously trained full-time AmeriCorps tutors to implement the model, and a coaching and support structure that ensures the success of the program and students.
Our Pre-K through 3rd grade tutors work full-time for 11 months in a high-needs school. In return for their service, tutors receive a modest living stipend, and Education Award of about $6,000, basic health insurance, and support from both school staff and literacy experts.
A representative from our organization will be available to answer questions.
