Description

Maryland Working Families is a progressive political movement fighting
for policies that lift up Maryland’s working families and electing
leaders who will implement those policies. We're about building
political power for the working class.

Our mission is to create an economy and justice system that works for
all of us and a democracy in which every voice matters.

Affiliated with the national Working Families Organization, MDWF is
powered by people who believe in a better future for all Marylanders.
Examples of our statewide advocacy efforts include raising the
statewide minimum wage to $10.10; passing one of the strongest Equal
Pay laws in the nation and establishing Paid Sick Leave for 200,000
workers in Montgomery County. Based in Baltimore, MDWF is on the front
lines of local campaigns, such as the fight for a citywide $15hr
minimum wage, and led the effort to allow community input and demand
transparency for the $600-million taxpayer subsidy for Port Covington.

Maryland Working Families achieves its goals by: developing and
electing candidates who share our values; organizing issue campaigns
to move progressive legislation; and building a movement of working
families to hold our leaders accountable. Maryland Working Families is
affiliated with the national Working Families Organization.

MDWF is coming to UMBC to discuss with students about how they can
engage in local advocacy/justice work while still attending school,
building a network of progressive young adults who can be agents of
change and possible volunteer and job opportunities with our
organization.

justice-oriented campaigns around Maryland. We’re looking for people
