Description

This virtual Humanities Teaching Lab (HTLab) workshop focuses on a UMBC Interdisciplinary CoLab project, "Documenting Places of Resistance: Black Tourism and Leisure during the Jim Crow Era."

The project resulted in an interactive resource for academic and general audiences. Students developed skills in digital humanities, archival research, and public history by working with community partners, collaborating with archival institutions, and conducting oral history interviews.

Participants in this lab will learn strategies to work with an interdisciplinary team of students, guiding them in exploring historical materials and applying digital tools such as WordPress, ArcGIS, and Google Maps.
