UMBC's Public Humanities Minor Program presents

Solidarity Has No Gender: Reimagining Our Collective Roles in Reproductive Justice, Womanism, and Equity


Joyell Arvella, J.D. is a racial and gender justice strategist, doula, and restorative justice practitioner. Her professional background is in education, reproductive justice, international civil and human rights law, race and equity, transitional justice, community outreach, and reconciliation. She has worked with the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, UN Special Tribunal for Lebanon, government agencies, nonprofits, and public schools in Baltimore, Eastern Shore, Boston, and abroad. Joyell is the founder of harp + sword, LLC, which focuses on bringing equitable change and joy in tandem by using restorative justice cross-generationally.
