Who Killed Alex Odeh?: An Assassination, an Investigation, and Arab-American Media Citizenship
William Youmans
Assistant Professor, Media and Public Affairs, George Washington University Spring 2021 Inclusion Imperative Visiting Faculty Fellow
This project examines the 1985 assassination of Palestinian-American organizer and poet, Alex Odeh. Odeh was the West Coast regional director of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, a newly formed civil rights group that was the target of threats and actions nationwide. William Youmans’ project uses archival research to historicize the case to emphasize the importance of Odeh’s killing to Arab-American civic life.
