How to Queer Any Text Using Black Out Poetry: A Workshop
Red Samaniego writes fiction and poetry about freak love, border worlds, and being a better communist. They were selected as a 2021 Periplus fellow, the 2019 Sandra Cisneros Fellow at Under the Volcano in Tepoztlan, Mexico; a 2018 Hattie Fitz Walker Scholar at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, MA; and the 2018-2019 Editorial Assistant at Dorothy, a publishing project. They earned their MFA from Washington University in St. Louis where they were awarded the Junior Fiction Fellow teaching fellowship in 2019. In addition to writing, Red provides gender-inclusive support to pregnant and postpartum patients at Bayview Hospital.
