Submit your name by Wednesday, September 17
Dear Colleagues:
We are building our schedule of CURRENTS: Humanities Work Now talks for the semester. These will be at noon on Mondays and Wednesdays in a hybrid (in-person and WebEx) format. If you would like to present as part of this series, please let me know as soon as possible. More information on the format is below, but I’m also happy to be in touch with anyone who has questions. They are always fun and low key ways to share research and all faculty and advanced graduate students doing humanities research are welcome.
If you are interested in presenting, please write to our manager, Courtney Hobson, chobson1@umbc.edu.
All best,
Amy
The Dresher Center’s CURRENTS: Humanities Work Now noon series showcases exciting new faculty and graduate student work in the humanities in a dynamic and inter-disciplinary setting. Designed to promote ongoing conversation and multi-disciplinary investigation, these works-in-progress meetings offer faculty and advanced graduate students an informal venue for presentation, conversation, and ongoing collaborative exchange. In general, two speakers will share the free hour with 2 short, informal presentations (10 min. ea.) and time for discussion.
- discussion of a key research question at the heart of an article or major project
- conversation about methodological issues surrounding multi- or trans-disciplinary work
- presentation of key ideas in a working draft of a new paper
- exploration of opportunities and challenges surrounding digital and multi-modal scholarship
- consultation with other scholars about a grant or other major project proposal.
