Join the Print Culture and Archives working group and
the Hilltop Print Shop for a hands-on exploration of early printing
methods! We'll be set up in the LLC department seminar room (Sherman
202A) on Thursday November 13 from 11-2pm. Stop by and try out the Book Beetle letterpress and a tabletop provisional press, use moulds and deckles to make your own paper, and learn to use a composing stick
with our lead and wooden type sets. Although our target audience
includes UMBC instructors, staff and graduate students, everyone is
welcome.
Interested in working with early printing methods in
your classes? Join the Print Culture and Archives Working Group! PCA
provides space to share research and works in progress as well as
discuss current debates, questions, and conundrums in the field(s). We
also exchange pedagogical ideas and best practices, develop PCA-related
programming, curricula and makerspaces on campus, and cultivate
relationships with presses, archives, libraries, book artists, and
collectors in the region. Subscribe to our myUMBC group for updates!
